Our purpose is to provide an
industry-recognized chef training program with the basic levels of
intermediate and institutional cooking, and job readiness skills.
Cascade
Culinary Arts School is operated by
The Salvation Army
at their
facility,
Cascade Community Church. The church is a popular setting for
beautiful weddings. It is also an
attractive place for the Abbotsford community to hold meetings and seminars. Reasonable
prices, service-oriented staff, and excellent food are all reasons that
bookings are made far in advance. Our students benefit from this because
they gain valuable experience. Employers benefit because well-trained
employees with real-life skills are available when they need them.
In
October of 2003, our Culinary Arts School was granted accreditation from
PCTIA, The Private Career Training Institutions Agency. As well as
certifying the high level of credibility of the school, this designation
allows students to potentially receive
government student loans or apply for funding through Human
Resources Canada. Accreditation also means that, upon completion of this
officially recognized training program, graduates will have the opportunity
to qualify to move into Professional Cook 2 training.
In October
of 2003,
we were awarded a provincial contract
to provide
Professional Cook 1 and 2 training. This is offered one day a week over
a twenty-week period, and it has the advantage of allowing cooks in the
Fraser Valley to take their training locally so they can
continue their employment while they develop their skill base. For more information, you can call our
office at 604-556-7000. We are proud that over
90% of our graduating students successfully find employment in the food
service industry.
